Steve
Weaver, Jr had thing all his way in leading every lap to win the 20 lap
limited late model feature event Saturday night at Hialeah Speedway.
Weaver, who has not been an every week competitor this season, had things
well in hand from the outset and sped to victory, his second of the
season, over Tommy Styer, Danny Maddox, David Myer and David Weaver.
Street stock action saw Ken Ammerman shake the bad luck monkey from his
back score his fourth street
stock victory of the season. Recent weeks have seen Ammerman with a
laundry list of mechanical ills but this night all went well as he paced
the 25 lap event from the third lap on. T.C. McElyea checkered second in
front of point leader Greg Gorniak, Jim Vary and Joe Franssen.
After being denied a feature win in a month, mini stock points king Buddy
Sizemore easily topped the small car field for feature win No. 12 this
season as he easily out classed Tracy Halfpenny and Harold Cross in the 15
lap event.
Veteran Tony Crowder took the lead on lap 43 then held off several
challengers enroute to a hard fought victory in the 10th annual Roy
Hartley Memorial 100. Track promoter Drew Ogden paced the 27 car field for
the first 24 laps before Mark Cornet put his Camaro on the point. Crowder,
working the outside lane to perfection, finally was able to gain the top
spot but could never relax as several drivers kept the pressure turned up.
Point leader John Pettit collected second money ahead of youngsters Sean
Ryan and David Dielmann with Steve Colon rounding out the top five
finishers.
